On the 10th of February 2018, the Entrepreneurship Club at SENTRAL College Penang organised a visit to Happy Retirement Home located in Kepala Batas, Penang. The aim of the CSR Project was to instill a sense of social responsibility, and to build the integrity of one’s being. It is an act that would not only benefit one’s self but also the society. The excursion aims to create gratitude and compassion among the participants towards the elderly, especially their parents.
The session began with all participants bonding with the elderly, introducing themselves, what they are currently doing, and the purpose of their visit. The elderly’s faces lit up with joy, some shed tears, some were surprised and some were beyond disbelief to see so many of them. While interacting with the elderly, they also prepared some treats such as ‘fried bihun’ and milk tea. Thereafter, they proceeded to have an activity of making mementoes and leaving their wishes and aspirations for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. To conclude the visit, the participants entertained the elderly with an uplifting Chinese New Year song “天天好天- Tian Tian Hao Tian” to usher in 2018.
The Entrepreneurship club wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Dr Chiang (Principle), Mr PH Tan (Deputy Principle), as well as the representatives from Entrepreneurship Club, UCSA Club, Rotaract Club, and Student Ambassador Group for their support in this meaningful event.
