SENTRAL Charity Food Fair 2017

If you missed out on the buzz going around our most recent event, this was what happened – In conjunction with our college’s 15th anniversary, we organized a charity food fair on the 1st of October 2017, from 8am – 12pm. You may wonder – what does a college which does not have a culinary arts programme has to do with organizing a food fair?

Here’s the answer: At SENTRAL, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Therefore, it is extremely important to instill values such as compassion among leaders of tomorrow, our students.  The purpose of this food fair was to raise funds for three well deserving homes, namely – Aisyah Home, Penang; Sunshine Cottage, Kulim; and Yee Ran Jing She, Penang. It was also a great opportunity to develop soft skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork among students.

The Day of the Charity Food Fair

Despite experiencing constant light showers in the past few mornings, our event was blessed with a breezy weather, which spanned across the whole morning. Participants of our event were treated to a range of 30 stalls stretched across Bishop Street, serving delicious local and western cuisines such as homemade butter cakes, muffins, Korean glass noodles, pizzas, fruit tarts, Rojak, Ais Kacang, Thai style fried rice, Char Koay Teow, and Mee Goreng. As they enjoyed their meal, they were also entertained by some outstanding performances by our talented students and other local artists.

It was most of our staff and student’s “first times” being actively involved in a charity food fair and we were really touched by the support given from outsiders. Here is a short video we compiled to show you about our charity food fair. Can you spot yourselves/ your friends in the video?\
