Diploma in Tourism Management Study Tour to Hanoi, Vietnam

Two lecturers accompanied 18 students from the Diploma in Tourism Management (DTM) program on the study tour to Hanoi, Vietnam. The objective of the study tour is to amplify the Tourism Cultural & Heritage module. The out of classroom learning enhances the students’ understanding on the growth and development of heritage and culture within the travel and tourism sector. Additionally it will give the students a better understanding on the roles, responsibility and ownership of organizations of heritage and culture towards tourism in Hanoi.

Through the study tour the students get to visit Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, One Pillar pagoda, Tran Quoc Temple, Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarter, Saint Joseph Cathedral and Halong Bay, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. Not forgetting the world famous Thang Long Water Puppet which dates back to the 11th century.

Largely the students have gained a broader perspective of the subject. They will be able to relate and apply the knowledge they have gained through the trip in their studies and future careers in the travel industry.
